We continue to import (field trial studs) semen from the USA for our quality dams. Due to our selection criteria we rarely use Australian studs who are predominantly show lines. 

We are progressive in our breeding program.

As in other countries, Europe and US there is a vast difference between show and working/field bred labradors. Decades of selection.  The reason working (ie detector bomb, drug and other contraband etc) labrador retrievers are specifically bred, at great expense in world wide Government breeding progams. As are Seeing Eye/Guide Dogs for The Blind. They also have their "specialised working traits" requirements.
